
Course Description
This comprehensive course in Quranic Exegesis (Tafsir) provides detailed study of the interpretation and explanation of the Quranic text, drawing from classical and contemporary tafsir works by various scholars. Students will learn the methodology of Quranic interpretation, including linguistic analysis, historical context, and the relationship between different verses. The course covers various approaches to tafsir including tafsir bil-ma'thur (based on authentic sources), tafsir bil-ra'y (based on scholarly opinion), and thematic tafsir. Students will study selected chapters and verses in detail, examining their meanings, historical background, and practical applications. Emphasis is placed on understanding the Quran's guidance for contemporary Muslim life while respecting the scholarly tradition of tafsir.
